Dear Families,

November is going so quickly!    We have finished writing Owl Facts as part of the informative writing standard.  Our next writing project is about the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving.    I hope you enjoyed hearing the Haunted House narratives!   Our math units now focus on number writing and recognition to 60, telling time to the hour and data interpretation.   We will be reviewing geometry shortly.   The standards addressed in reading classes are non-fiction reading and recognizing non-fiction features with a continuous focus on phonics and building sight word recall.

The science unit, Pebbles, Sand and Silt will end this month as well.   Everyone has learned much about rocks, the Story of Sand, and how earth materials and soil are useful.     Our science kit for Plants will begin in mid January.   This is a fun unit because we get to see "spring" early when the seeds we plant begin to grow!

I am looking forward to meeting with you again, during December conferences, to share your child's progress and discuss further expectations.

                       Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

                                                                               Sincerely,

                                                                                Mrs. Lilly
